什么是超现实主义?
在艺术领域中,
超现实主义(sur·re·al·ism)
/səˈrēəˌliz(ə)m/

学习发音
名词
- 二十世纪兴起于艺术与文学领域的先锋派运动,旨在释放潜意识的创造性潜能,例如通过图像的非理性并置。
按摩根老师的说法,它看起来真实可信,仿佛正在发生,但现实中绝不可能发生——有点像你做的一个怪异梦境:当时感觉真切,醒来后才意识到荒诞离奇。
并置(jux·ta·po·si·tion)
/ˌjəkstəpəˈziSHən/

名词:两件事物被置于邻近位置,从而产生对比效果。
例如,将不同尺寸的物体组合使用:一种非理性的安排,如大象骑在蚂蚁背上、人乘着一只巨大的鞋子飞翔、长颈鹿穿着西装领带站在教室前排。
拼贴(col·lage)
/kəˈläZH/

What is surrealism?
In the art world,
sur·re·al·ism
/səˈrēəˌliz(ə)m/

Learn to pronounce
noun
- a 20th-century avant-garde movement in art and literature which sought to release the creative potential of the unconscious mind, for example by the irrational juxtaposition of images.
In Mrs. Morgan’s words, it is something that looks realistic as though it is happening, but in reality it could never happen. Kinda like a weird dream you might have. It seemed real, but when you wake up, you realize it was bizzare.
jux·ta·po·si·tion
/ˌjəkstəpəˈziSHən/

noun:the fact of two things being seen or placed close together with contrasting effect.
For example, using things in varying sizes together: an irrational arrangement like an elephant riding on the back of an ant, a person flying in a large shoe, a giraffe wearing a suit snd tie at the front of a classroom.
col·lage
/kəˈläZH/

noun:a piece of art made by sticking various different materials such as photographs and pieces of paper or fabric on to a backing.
-In French, it means "to stick down or glue". The first recognized artistic collage is widely considered to be Pablo Picasso's 1912 work, "Still Life with Chair Caning,"In Mrs. Morgan’s words, it is taking pictures or objects and gluing them creatively onto a surface.

See how the professionals do it...
You will be finding images in magazines to use.
You need:
-A big background piece (no words or cartoons)
-3 images that would not normally belong to your background.
- cleanly cut out images to make them look like they are naturally in the background (not cut and glued)
-see example below?
Pay attention to how the toothbrush and mustard bottle were creatively put into background.

This guy is seriously Surreal! WhAt an inspiration...
YOUR TURN!!!
You will be creating a collage from magazines to form a surrealism scene.
The PICTURE HUNT
You will need to find a picture to use as a
BASE BACKGROUND first.
This could be a room, landscape, or a design. The less words or advertising on it, the better. You can always cover unwanted words or adds with something you glue onto it.
SUBJECTS
After the base background is found, you can hunt for THINGS to cut out and glue down.
These should be REAL things (no cartoons or drawings) to make the picture seem real.
Do NOT use pictures that are CUT OFF (unless they go off page) or that have words on them.
They cannot be cartoon/drawings/
You need 4 or more added pieces to the collage.
