Our school will be having another Culture Night this March! It was so much fun last year to see the students and their families share pieces of their life and culture with curious minds of Krahn Elementary. This year, the artists of Krahn will be sharing inspired ideas from a variety of cultures around the world. These will be on display at Culture Night. YAY!

ONe of these inspired projects will be African Culture.

Giraffes are one of the most unique creatures in the world.

They live naturally in Africa. We will be using these fascinating animals as our subject for this project.

Kente cloth

Kente cloth is a type of silk and cotton fabric made of interwoven cloth strips and is native to the Akan ethnic group of South Ghana. Kente cloth has its origin with the Ashanti Kingdom, and was adopted by people in Ivory Coast and many other West African counties. It is an Akan royal and sacred cloth worn only in times of extreme importance and was the cloth of kings. We will use lines, patterns, colors and interwoven design to inspire us for the background for our giraffe.
