艺术家印章（或称“印鉴”）是一种用于盖印特殊标记的印章，用以标识艺术家的作品，其作用相当于个人签名。 我们为初中部学生的水墨卷轴画课程制作了艺术家印章。本项目亦可面向低龄学生调整：改用泡沫板代替乙烯基或油泥进行刻制。
教学目标：
- 学生将了解艺术家印章（印鉴）在亚洲文化中的使用方式；
- 学生将设计并制作属于自己的艺术家印章。
材料： 乙烯基橡皮擦、油泥刻刀／美工刀、红色印泥
教学流程：
- 艺术家印章（或称“印鉴”）是一种用于盖印特殊标记的印章，用以标识艺术家的作品，其作用相当于个人签名。
- 印章图案通常为某种象征符号、艺术家姓名（或二者兼有），直接印于作品之上。
- 印章通常以鲜红色印泥盖印。
- 印章的使用起源于数千年前的东方（尤以中国为典型）。
- 印章尺寸通常约如手指大小；较大尺寸者称为吉寸印（Jitsu in），多用于公司合同及个人大宗采购（如汽车、房屋）等场合。
- 印章材质通常为滑石、玉石或木材。
这枚印章是在中国为我家“East”姓氏定制的，是我侄子赠送的礼物！
制作步骤：
- 在素描本中绘制印章设计的小稿（缩略图）。
- 印章形式可自由选择——姓名、抽象图形、动物等皆可。
- 务必反向绘制（镜像绘制）图案，以确保最终盖印效果正确！！！
- 用铅笔将设计稿画在乙烯基刻版（橡皮擦）表面。
- 使用油泥刻刀／美工刀剔除设计中需留“白”的部分（即纸面显露的部分）。
- 先在废纸上反复练习盖印。
- 用红色印泥（我们通常采用版画专用块状印泥）将印章盖印于卷轴画上。

An artist’s seal or chop is a stamp used to print a special mark to identify the artist’s work. It is equivalent to a person’s signature. We made artist’s chops to go along with my middle school classes’ Sumi-e Scroll Painting. This project could be adapted to younger students by using Styrofoam sheets instead of carving out of vinyl or linoleum.
Objectives:
- Students will learn about the use of artist’s seals or chops in the Asian culture.
- Students will design & create their own artist chop.
Materials: vinyl eraser, linoleum carving tools/Exacto knife, red ink pads
Delivery:
- An artist’s seal or chop is a stamp used to print a special mark to identify the artist’s work. It is equivalent to a person’s signature.
- The design of the chop is often a symbol or the artist’s name (or both) that is printed directly onto a piece of artwork.
- A chop is usually printed in bright red ink.
- The use of the chop originated in the orient thousands of years ago (particularly used by the Chinese).
- Chops are typically around the size of a finger. Larger chops called Jitsu in, are used for companies’ contracts & for individuals’ largest purchases, like cars & houses.
- A chop is carved out of either soapstone, jade, or wood.
This one was made in China for my family “East” as a gift from my nephew!
Instructions:
- Draw thumbnail sketches in your sketchbook of designs for your seal.
- You may choose to make your seal any way you want-name, abstract design, animal, etc.
- Draw the image backwards or mirror image so it will print correctly!!!
- Draw your design in pencil onto the vinyl carving block (eraser).
- Use linoleum carving tools/exacto knife to remove the “white” part of your design-where the paper will show through.
- PRACTICE printing on scrap paper.
- Print your seal onto your scroll using red ink (we usually use printmaking block ink).
