I used a step by step reference from

I later filled in blank areas in between with more feather "eyes". I made some cut off of the page to give the illusion that the plume keeps going out of paper space.
Crayons...
The wax of the crayons will later resist the paint we put on top. These details will be protected from paint.

Close up to see how the sea foam green crayon resists the blue water paint.
Body, eyes of feathers and head feathers are all blue.
Feathers are green.
I came back at end when it was dry with dark green, yellow and blue crayons and added a crisper line to some parts.
Video for facts about peacocks. I would recommend it for 4th grade or older.
